Harold Horwood

Harold Horwood was born in St. John’s, Newfoundland, in 1923. He worked as a union organizer, political activist and columnist, and as an author of fiction, biography, history and poetry. He co-founded the Writers’ Union of Canada and helped start The New Quarterly literary journal. He died in April 2006.
