~ Amy Spurway, author of Crow (Goose Lane Editions) gave us her top five tips for avoiding writer’s block from “OMG WHAT AM I EVEN DOING WITH MY LIFE” to the final calm of write, revise, repeat in Writer’s Block. ~ For #WorldEnvironmentDay we set sights on the Salish Sea Islands, one of the most threatened ecoregions in Canada, with excerpts from the new collection of non-fiction and poetry, Love of the Salish Sea Islands (Mother Tongue Publishing) in Where in Canada. ~ To kick off Pride Month we rounded up five fantastic LGBTQ+ books to get our reading party started.~ We started the weekend with sunscreen and a copy of Becky Blake’s debut novel Proof I Was Here (Wolsak and Wynn), a love letter to Barcelona that explores the cities darkest corners, and in them, finds its beauty.

~ The winners of the Indigenous Voices Award were announced, which included Smokii Sumac, a two-spirit member of the Ktunaxa nation, earned the accolade for English-language published poetry with You are Enough: Love Poems for the End of the World (Kegedonce Press) and other fantastic writers.~ We’re feeling this compilation of booktubers of colour on the importance of diverse representation in literature.~ A bookstore in Waterville, Maine hosted a story time with a drag queen to teach kids about inclusion despite protesters.
