When the spirited Doris Mooney arrives and strikes up an unlikely friendship with the reserved Ivy Hoffbauer, the two quickly become inseparable. Seeking to spice up the place, Doris soon takes it upon herself to play matchmaker between Ivy and Arthur Beech, a charming professor and amateur poet with only two years left to live.
