This is the inaugural volume of the Lyrik Poetry Series, which honours Canada’s foremost Mennonite poets. This collection offers a generous selection of some of the best work, past and present, of Manitoba’s Sarah Klassen, who has published eight books of poetry in a long and distinguished career. The book includes a brand-new afterword by the poet and a detailed critical introduction by the editor, Nathan Dueck. This volume presents new and uncollected poems as well as the best of the work from previously published books. The poems are thematically arranged and chosen in consultation with the poet.

AUTHOR

Sarah Klassen

Sarah Klassen was born in Winnipeg and grew up in Manitoba’s Interlake. Now retired, she previously enjoyed a career teaching high school English. An accomplished traveller, poet, and fiction writer, she has won the Gerald Lampert Memorial Award, the High Plains Award for Fiction, the Canadian Authors Association Award for Poetry, the National Magazine Gold Award for Poetry, and Margaret McWilliams Award for Popular History. The Tree Of LifeI is her sixth poetry collection.


AUTHOR

Nathan Dueck

nathan dueck’s middle name is russel, which means his initials spell nrd. His folks tell him that nobody used that word when he was born, but dictionaries say otherwise. He is the author of king’s(mère) (Turnstone Press) and he’ll (Pedlar Press). Born in Winnipeg, he completed his Ph.D. at the University of Calgary and now lives in Cranbrook, BC, where he is a creative writing and English instructor at the College of the Rockies.
