MOOCH proudly pays for the beer.JUNE enters the bar.JUNE
Mooch!
MOOCH
Oh shit.
JUNE
Can I speak to you a moment? Haat-choo-tza! [Let’s go—Now!]
GEORGE
Oh Jeezus, this is going to be ugly.
GEORGE and FLOYD watch the big battle. JUNE
We sat down last night and I poured my heart and soul out, and you sat and listened. And you promised me you wouldn’t steal from me, but you did, didn’t you? DIDN’T YOU?
MOOCH
I didn’t, June Bug! I didn’t!
JUNE
Where did my money go then? Huh? That was for the phone bill, that money.
MOOCH
What money? I don’t know what you’re talking about.
JUNE
Don’t insult me! I work, Mooch. I work to try and support us.
MOOCH
I know, June Bug, I know.
GEORGE and FLOYD laugh. JUNE
(to FLOYD and GEORGE) SHUT UP!
GEORGE and FLOYD shut up. MOOCH
I never took nothing from you, June Bug, nothing—
JUNE hits MOOCH. WHACK!!!
GEORGE and FLOYD burst out laughing.
MOOCH
Owww!
JUNE
Don’t lie to me! Where’s the rest of my money.
MOOCH
I don’t know—
JUNE hits MOOCH again. WHACK! GEORGE
Yup, just like an angel.
FLOYD
I feel better already.
JUNE storms over to GEORGE. JUNE
If you see him in here again, you call me, you hear.
GEORGE
No, that’s stupid; he’s a grown man. I’m not going to do that.
JUNE advances menacingly. JUNE
Useless sons of bitches!
JUNE storms out of the bar.FLOYD
I’ll call you! Don’t worry, June! If I see him in here, I’ll call you right away!
GEORGE
That’s just mean. That’s just cold-blooded.
FLOYD raises his glass. FLOYD
Uh-huh, here’s to June Bug, may all her blows land true.
