Chappy Hour: A Revolver + Whiskey Bullets

When I came across the poem “Let Go” in Garry Gottfreidson’s Whiskey Bullets (Ronsdale Press), it felt as though it came right out of our ALU Book Club pick, Two-Gun & Sun, a frontier-mining story with a whiskey-loving protagonist, Miss Lila Sinclair. Gottfreidson plays with the idea of Indians and Cowboys in Whiskey Bullets and the legacy of the West in Canada is explored from a unique view, adding complexity to our understanding of life near the Rocky Mountains.While a good Old Fashioned would be an apt pairing for this collection, the Revolver is a lesser-known cocktail with the same bold, complex layering found in my inspiration literature.
