Wreckage

It’s 1924. Rose disappears from a train wreck without a trace. Twenty-five years later her red suitcase arrives anonymously and mysteriously, triggering her daughter’s search for the truth and unlocking a bizarre chain of events. A haunted railway detective, gourmet gangster-chefs, a Puccini-singing ghost, and a host of Dicensian characters populate Vancouver’s underbelly. Wreckage is a stylish “gangster” play with a dark and wicked sense of humour and the theatrical punch of a speeding train.

Sally Stubbs

Sally Stubbs is an award-winning playwright and educator and a director-performer based in Vancouver. Sally’s plays include: Wreckage (Scirocco, 2009), Eyes. Two., She’ll to the Wars, Home Movies, Spinning You Home, Centurions, and Herr Beckmann’s People (Scirocco, 2011).In 2009, Sally was invited to present Herr Beckmann’s People at the 8th International Women Playwrights Conference in Mumbai. That year the play also received the 3rd Annual Canadian Peace Play Award. Sally is an instructor of post-secondary writing and theatre education and a recipient of a Prime Minister’s Award for her work with young people and theatre.
