Crime analyst Kate Heaney is hoping to make amends with her estranged husband, Henry. But before she can broach the topic of moving back home, Henry takes off to pick up Kate’s relapsed alcoholic brother, Conor, from a local bar. What starts out as a quick errand results in Henry’s death, and Conor, with a complicated legal history, is the primary suspect. Kate is determined to find the killer, so she enlists the help of her ex-affair partner, Edmonton Police Department Sergeant Erik Jorgensen. Between family secrets, rival gangs, and oil execs, Kate quickly gets more than she bargained for and soon her life–and her job–are on the line.
