Laura McLauchlan was born in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba in 1952. She earned a B.A. from Trent University and and M.A. in history from the University of Manitoba. In addition to Lacuna she is the author of Cuckoo, a three act play. She lived in the Bahamas for a year and has travelled to India and China.
