His first novel, Daniel O’Thunder, was named one of the top historical novels of 2011 by Library Journal, which described it as “a debut novel both outrageously funny and bizarrely creepy.” It was a finalist for four awards: the Commonwealth Writers’s Prize for First Book, the Amazon.ca First Novel Award, the Ethel Wilson Fiction Prize, and the Canadian Authors Association Award for Fiction. Ian lives in Langley, BC. His new novel, Will Starling, has been praised as “remarkably subversive” by the Globe and Mailand “all very ’orrible, and a lot of fun” by The Vancouver Sun.Aaron Bushkowsky is a poet, playwright, and screenplay writer. His first collection of poetry, ed and mabel go to the moon (1994), was nominated for the Dorothy Livesay Award. His second collection, Mars is for Poemswas published in 2002. He has published two books of drama, Strangers Among Us and The Waterhead and Other Plays, both published by Playwrights Canada Press. Lisa will be joined by Gail Scott, Nicole Brossard, and Rachel Levitsky; each will read for 15 minutes. The reading will be something that each poet finds to be in dialog indirectly, if not directly, with the book itself, and the moment and movement, that the book illustrates.

But as fate will have it, one rather huge unforeseen outcome of her decision is that she will have to do battle with an old inadvertently conjured demon that feeds off the strength of women and can have them do her bidding. In no time the Rez is in an uproar. With a cast of unusual and unfamiliar characters, Dawn Dumont interweaves a tale of motherly love, friendship, lustful longing, wîhtikow lore, and Rez humour, and keeps the hoopla going until the race is done.Dawn Dumont is the author of Nobody Cries at Bingo which was shortlisted for the City of Edmonton Award and the Alberta Reader’s Choice. She writes and performs comedy across Canada. You can also catch her on the APTN reality comedy series, Fish Out of Water which she co-hosts with comedian Don Kelly. (She’s the one screaming and falling out of canoes.) She is also the afternoon drive DJ for Voices Radio, broadcast across Canada. She writes a monthly column for the Eagle Feather News called “That’s What She Said.” Dumont divides her time between Saskatoon, Edmonton, and the rest of Canada.
