Test Kitchen: A Sip With a Twist + The List of Last Chances

Caitlin Press and DOSC restaurant’s bar manager Xavier recently teamed up to develop A Sip With a Twist, a gin-based cocktail inspired by Christina Myers’s The List of Last Chances (Caitlin Press) that follows a pair of reluctant travel companions across the country into an unexpected friendship and new adventures. We obviously had to try it for ourselves: this literary inspired cocktail was gincredible — a refreshing, perfectly sweet cocktail to kick off summer. Read on for the recipe and excerpt from the book.

Much like the protagonist Ruthie’s unexpected stops in The List of Last Chances small Canadian gin producers have been popping up in different locations all across Canada. Many of these local gins highlight their uniqueness by using botanicals only found in their specific region. From notes of seaweed on the coast, to pine and spruce in our great forests and lemongrass and rose from the prairies, each gin brings something unique but welcomed to the table. Try this cocktail with your favourite local gin after purchasing The List of Last Chances from your favourite local bookstore. You, like Ruthie, might be pleasantly surprised.
