~ Author Karen Clavelle of The Mother Goose Letters (At Bay Press), a reimagined collection of letters by Mother Goose, tells us how these classic characters and stories relate to the Canadian Prairies and our contemporary times: “The traditional Mother Goose rhymes and tales alike lack diversity in terms of gender, culture, and religion; they are intolerant, politically insensitive, and misogynist; they glorify bullying; they mock anyone and everyone from kings to politicians to lecherous millers to thieving children; they are not current, they tell old stories.”~ We rounded up three books to say goodbye to summer with as we head into fall reading season.~ And speaking of fall, take a peek at our Fall Preview in which we chose some of their top reads for the season.~ We showcased a few hot new releases to take with you wherever you’re headed this weekend.
