~ We asked author and LGBTQ refugee activist Ahmad Danny Ramadan for some of his top book picks for Pride reads.~ Cover designer Tree Abraham answered our design-related questions about the cover of Rebecca Hendry’s One Good Thing (Brindle & Glass): “Aside from time period, the story is so unique in being set in the Northwest Territories that is was an element that I wanted to leverage if possible. I envisioned this design immediately when the cover was briefed and luckily the story ended up perfectly reflecting the imagery I had initially imagined (this never happens).”~ Summer is a time for adventure and we’ve got three bookish ones to choose from in this Do-Lit-Yourself.~ Summer is also a time for backyard parties and backyard parties featuring seafood pasta. The Newfoundland and Labrador Seafood Cookbook (Breakwater Books).~ Mama’s Boy (Book*hug) from David Goudreault (translated from French by JC Sutcliffe) is a mixed bag of Kerouac, Palahniuk, 2Pac, or “Ted Bundy crossed with Mickey Mouse” “stuffed into the balaclava that’s about to whack you round the head.”
