~ Because you never need a reason to celebrate cats we had a mewment with this litter of cat-covered books.~ Author Jules Torti chatted with us about her memoir Free to a Good Home (Caitlin Press) and her 88-house journey across continents to finally find home: “It was a pattern of roommates, girlfriends, old dogs, ex-girlfriends, older dogs. Moving. Packing. Moving. Sound familiar?”~ Tree Abraham indulged our design-nerd tendencies and chats with us about her design process for Julie Paul’s Meteorites (Brindle & Glass): “Cover design requires a balance of commercial sensibleness and artistic madness to achieve approachable intrigue.”~ For Father’s Day we featured Tim Bowling’s collection The Dark Set (Wolsak & Wynn), a collection of tenderman poems touching on issues around masculinity, fatherhood, history, citizenship and power

~ Among the Trillium Book Awards winners were Dionne Brand who took home the fiction award for The Blue Clerk and Robin Richardson the poetry prize for Sit How You Want (Véhicule Press).~ A panel of experts discussed how the internet has changed book culture and it’s more hopeful than we thought.~ More experts weighed in on what makes the perfect book club (hint: it’s not wine).
