is an Ottawa-based press that has a strong focus on poetry, though they have published fiction and non-fiction in the past. For Buschek, the whole point is sharing manuscripts of exceptional quality. Also important to Buschek is spreading exceptional work beyond the barriers of language. They often publish the English translations by Canadian authors, as well as Canadian translations of international poets, often done as bilingual editions. To date BuschekBooks has published 75 titles, which have garnered over 130 reviews and several literary awards, including two Governor General’s Literary Awards. One of their GG winners was Apostrophes: woman at a piano by E.D. Blodgett, a former Poet Laureate of Edmonton, Alberta. In this collection of 66 poems, Blodgett provides a window into the world of a poet with the assured voice of a senior poet. Blodgett’s work seems to be good luck for the press as their second GG win was for the translation of his work, Transfiguration, from English to French, a bilingual edition co-published with Editions du Noroît.Since they began publishing books in the 1990s, Buschek has worked many writers over the years and All Lit Up is happy to be able to share books from poets like Rachel Zolf, Jesse Ferguson, rob mclennan, and Keith Garebian.
