Cozy Fest: Vanessa Westermann + Shudder Pulp

In Shudder Pulp (Cormorant Books), the second book in Vanessa Westermann’s Charley Scott Mystery series, visit cottage country just as autumn sets the scene for eerie encounters. Charley Scott is creating a pulp art installation inspired by local lake-monster lore until a newcomer claims she was attacked by the creature and is later found dead. As rumours swirl, Charley and chocolatier Matt Thorn pair up to uncover the truth, navigating myths, murder, and sparks of romance along the way.

An avid reader of mysteries, Vanessa Westermann is a former Arthur Ellis Awards judge, holds an M.A. in English Literature and a Bachelor of Education, and has taught creative writing. Cover Art, the first of the Charley Scott Mysteries, was published to great acclaim in 2022. At the heart of all of Westermann’s stories are strong female protagonists inspired by the heroines in her own life. She currently lives in Ontario.
