Cozy Fest: Jaik Josephson + Queer Country Crossroads
Edited by Mabe Kyle Queer Country Crossroads (Caitlin Press) is an anthology of nonfiction stories and poems written by and for rural 2SLGBTQIA+ folks serving as a beautiful reminder of people’s love and resilience.
One of the contributors of the collection, Jaik Josephson, joins us from Beausejour, Manitoba to read a passage from “On Becoming a Country Mouse,” about two city guys settling into rural Manitoba when a bewildering encounter blossoms into friendship and unexpected allyship.

About our reader
Jaik Josephson is a published poet from the Beausejour area. He has been engaging in a daily writing practice for most of his adult life. Much of Jaik’s inspiration comes from unearthing hidden lives and nature. Given an interest in fusing poetry and performance, Jaik has had the joy of collaborating with both theatre and dance artists. Jaik facilitates a rural writing circle in the municipality of Brokenhead that is comprised of an inspiring group of rural poets and storytellers.
