Character Study: Hilda’s Yard

We had a lot of fun coming up with the perfect actors for these roles! Norm Foster’s comedies are always entertaining to imagine as movies, even though we love them as plays. In Hilda’s Yard, what’s supposed to be a relaxing afternoon of new empty nest bliss for Hilda and Sam Fluck ends up in calamity as their two thirty-something kids literally fall over their backyard fence needing help out of sticky situations. Their son Gary is on the run from a bookie named Beverly with his new girlfriend Bobbi, while their daughter Janey, ever-dependent, has just left her husband and is looking for comfort and distraction.
