“To One a Century Hence” from Kevin Shaw’s debut poetry collection, Smaller Hours, opens with the line “Twilight tastes of candied violet, and I carry the coming night,” hinting to us that it should be paired with a sweet, refreshing Purple Haze cocktail. This version incorporates lemonade, making it perfect for summer sipping!   

The Cocktail

(Text instructions to follow)
Ingredients:
  • 1 1/2 oz vodka (you can replace with additional lemonade)
  • 1 oz Chambord (you can replace with raspberry juice)
  • 2 oz lemonade  
  • 2 oz lemon-lime soda
  • 1 lemon Slice 
Directions:
  1. Pour vodka and Chambord into a highball glass filled with ice.
  2. Top with lemonade and lemon-lime soda. 
  3. Stir briefly and garnish with a slice of lemon.
