Nocturnes are generally thought of as being tranquil, often expressive and lyrical, and sometimes rather gloomy. In Paul Savoie’s latest collection, Nocturnes(BookLand Press, 2014), he takes inspiration from the ‘music of the night’, infusing his compositions with assonance, rhythms, and musical phrases. This sensual collection, which won the 2013 Trillium Award in it’s French Language original, deserves to be paired with a luxury cocktail like this Nocturne Fizz.
