Jawdat Fakhreddine

Jawdat Fakhreddine est un poète libanais, professeur émérite de littérature arabe à l’Université libanaise de Beyrouth. Né en 1953 dans un petit village du Sud-Liban, il vit à Beyrouth. Il a publié onze recueils de poèmes, deux ouvrages de critique littéraire et trois livres de poèmes pour enfants. Son recueil “Trente poèmes pour enfants” a remporté le prix du Livre Sheikh Zayed dans la catégorie Littérature jeunesse en 2014. Ses poèmes ont été traduits en français, en anglais et en allemand.

Leïla Tahir, diplômée en langue et littérature arabes et en traduction, a traduit de l’arabe “Ramallah, mon amour” de Mahmoud Abou Hashhash (avec Emma Aubin, éd. Galaade), “Presqu’île arabe” de Salwa Al-Neimi (éd. Robert Laffont) et “L’affaissement du temps et la mort du sens” d’Ala Hlehel in “Un royaume d’olives et de cendres” (éd. Robert Laffont). Elle pense depuis longtemps qu’il n’y a pas d’âge pour lire des contes et des livres pour enfants.

Huda J. Fakhreddine

Huda J. Fakhreddine is Associate Professor of Arabic literature at the University of Pennsylvania, USA. She is the author of Metapoesis in the Arabic Tradition (Brill, 2015) and The Arabic Prose Poem: Poetic Theory and Practice (Edinburgh University Press, 2021). Her previous translations from Arabic to English include Lighthouse for the Drowning (co-translated with Jayson Iwen) published by BOA Editions, The Sky That Denied Me: Selected Poems by Jawdat Fakhreddine (co-translated with Roger Allen) published by University of Texas Press and Come Take a Gentle Stab: Selected Poems by Salim Barakat (co-translated with Jayson Iwen) published by Seagull Books. Her translations of modern Arabic poems have appeared in Banipal, World Literature Today, Nimrod, ArabLit Quarterly and Middle Eastern Literatures. She lives in Philadelphia, USA.
