George Blondin is a Dene Elder who was born in 1923 in the Northwest Territories&#46 He has been a wilderness guide&#44 a miner&#44 a trapper&#44 Vice President of the Dene Nation&#44 and in 1989 was elected chairman of the Denendah Elder<&#146>s Council&#46 He now works part<&#45>time with the Dene Cultural Institution and writes articles for local newspapers&#46 In 1990&#44 Mr&#46 Blondin was the recipient of the annual Ross Charles award for native journalism&#46 He is the author of When the World Was New and Yamoria the Lawmaker&#46
