The Sun Will Shine

The Sun Will Shine chronicles Laura Cotesta’s decade long battle with a rare form of cancer, from childhood to adolescence, in her own words. Taken from her journals, essays and school assignments, Laura reflects on being diagnosed with a rare spinal cord tumour and demonstrates that even through adversity one can embrace both life and death and find peace. Proceeds of the sale of books will go to support pediatric cancer care in Northern Ontario.

Laura C Cotesta

Laura Cotesta was born in Sudbury, Ontario on December 30, 1978. At age eight she was diagnosed with an ependymoma spinal cord tumour. Despite it returning five times, and between ongoing treatment and repeated surgery, Laura was determined to live a normal life. She passed away July 22 1997, just a few months after her high school graduation. More than 20 years later she continues to inspire a community.

Laura Stradiotto is a writer, editor and co-founder of Latitude 46 Publishing based in Sudbury, ON Laura has an M.F.A. in Creative Nonfiction from the University of King’s College in Halifax, NS.
