About The Author

Zahida Rahemtulla

Canadian playwright Zahida Rahemtulla grew up in Burnaby, BC, and later spent years living in Metchosin, Abu Dhabi, and Toronto. Her first play, The Wrong Bashir, premiered in Vancouver to a critically acclaimed sold-out run. Her second play, The Frontliners, a comedic drama about refugee resettlement, won multiple awards, including a Playwrights Guild of Canada Tom Hendry Award and runner-up for the national Voaden Prize in Playwriting. Outside theatre, Zahida has worked with newcomers and in community education, and currently teaches in the Community Development Department at Capilano University. She also works in access and inclusion at Blind Tiger Comedy, and is collaborating with theatres to create professional training for community actors of colour aged 55+.
