Dianne Meili

Diane Meili&#44 the great<&#45>granddaughter of well<&#45>known Cree Elder&#44 Victoria Callihoo&#44 was born in Calgary in 1957&#46 After studying journalism at the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology&#44 she worked as a newspaper reporter&#44 public relations officer and was the editor of Windspeaker<&#151>Alberta<&#146>s bi<&#45>weekly Native newspaper<&#151>for two years&#46 It was during her time at Windspeaker that she became aware of the need for a book to chronicle the thoughts and experiences of Alberta<&#146>s Native elders&#46 She spent the following eighteen months travelling throughout Alberta interviewing elders from ten different tribes&#46 Dianne currently lives in Peace River&#46
