In Review: The Week of June 12

Our Summer Book Club launched this week! Beginning in July with Death and the Intern, we’ll have weekly check-ins with readers-along (so be sure to get your on-sale copy!). Dads, don’t think we forgot about you: we rounded up some poetry books that poignantly speak to the father-child relationship.

~ We launched our second-annual All Lit Up Summer Book Club! This year, we’re reading Death and the Intern and Shenzheners (both of which are 15% off, making it a little easier for you to join in!)~ Of course, we couldn’t resist letting y’all know what other books we’re stoked to read this summer: check out our (very different) staff picks here.~ Poet Jennifer Still recounted the making of a long healing scroll of poetry and embroidery at her brother’s bedside, and how that transformed into her latest book, Comma (BookThug)~ Dad would’ve laughed, too. We saluted Father’s Day with three collections of poetry that revolve around dads.

Around the Web

~ “These links are interesting!” – LitHub tells us why that sentence doesn’t matter.~ The New York Public Library partnered up with the city’s MTA to create “The Subway Library”, where commuters can download ebooks selected by library staff.~ Speaking of libraries, Toronto’s other favourite son The Weeknd shot his new video at the Toronto Reference Library (and it has never looked cleaner).

What Else We’re Reading
