Chappy Hour: A Blacklight Borealis for Observing the Moon
Sneha Madhavan-Reese’s Observing the Moon (Hagios Press) is a stellar collection of poems that shine a light on family and generational memory, and journey into the darkness of a paradoxical world. Our ALU resident mixologist Tan appropriately pairs an earthy drink with a poem titled “Cocktail” in this edition of Chappy Hour.
Observing the Moon collects interesting moments from the daily life of the poet, Sneha Madhavan-Reese. To find a worthy cocktail pairing, I sought out a drink made from simple ingredients, but that was interesting in execution, just like the poems. The cosmological theme sealed the deal for me. NB. This cocktail requires a blacklight to see the aurora effect.
The Cocktail
What You Need:- 2 oz Gin
- 9 oz Tonic Water
- 3 oz of Pink-Lemonade Concentrate
- Ice
- A blacklight
- Mix gin, tonic and lemonade concentrate together in shaker.
