On the Blog

Happy Birthday to us!!This Thursday All Lit Up turned two! It’s been an amazing couple of years of CanLit fun and so many great books. We celebrated on the blog in a couple of ways:~ We took a cue from some of our books in this week’s Top 10 on how CanLiters party~ We at Team ALU paused for a moment of reflection, looking back at some of our favourite moments of the last year as well as which fall books we’re excited to get our paws onThey’ve got the hardware to prove itWe spotlighted two award-winning writers this week:~ Matthew Heiti is an award-winning screenwriter, playwright, and novelist: who better to ask about his creative process and if he believes in Writer’s Block~ Xue Yiwei is an award-winning Chinese author of twenty books. So why did we include him in this week’s First Fiction Friday? His work is available in English for the first time! Check out Shenzhenders!

Around the Web

~ Electric Lit published some fun writing infographics from Jeff VanderMeer and artist Jeremy Zerfoss~ If you’re not opposed to reusing old books for DIY projects, here are 10 ideas from Curbly~ Stop and think about this grammar rule for a moment via Cup of Jo

What We’re Reading

We’re deep into our fall reading: there are so many great new titles coming to ALU every week now that it’s keeping us busy (you can find all our new titles here). This week Tan finished reading the new André Alexis novel, The Hidden Keys, from Coach House Books, and is highly recommending it.
