Bridge in the Rain is a collection of interconnected short stories set in present day Toronto and linked by an inscription on a bench in High Park. The stories chronicle the travails of seven women, each dealing with a turning point in her life, be it making a career choice, resolving family crises, illuminating a secret behind a local legend, or finding an inspiration for her artistic endeavours. The stories are imbued with an international context inherent in the multicultural nature of Canadian society, linking contemporary women’s issues with concepts from history and art—from Emily Carr to the Group of Seven to Morrisseau to the early impressionists. {Guernica}

Bianca Lakoseljac

Bianca Lakoseljac is a novelist, short story writer, poet, and essayist. She is a published author of two novels, a collection of short stories, and a book of poetry. She holds an MA and an Honours BA in English Literature from York University. Bianca is the recipient of the Matthew Ahern Memorial Award in Literature. She won the Book Excellence Award for Fiction. Over a ten year period, she taught communication at Humber College and Ryerson University.
