Dear Readers,Today is the day we officially launch All Lit Up! We’re very excited to present this new online space where readers of Canadian Literature can come to explore what new books and authors are available, get to know the hard working Canadians who create and publish these books (or be introduced for the first time), and discover (or re-discover) books from years past that you aren’t likely to see on bookshelves anymore. But who are we? We’re the staff at the Literary Press Group and to our great delight we get to work with creative and risk-taking independent Canadian publishers every day. On All Lit Up you’ll find over 6000 books, both print and digital, from over 40 of our member publishers. Located across the country, our publishers’ books run the gamut from a historical Vancouver true crime novel to an anthology of poetry from Newfoundland poets. The only place to feature and sell exclusively Canadian literary titles, All Lit Up is set to be the new hub for Canadian literary booklovers. In addition to being able to browse our “shelves” so to speak, we’ll have related content on our blog that we develop with the help of our publishers and contributors. We have a backlist of content available now for you to browse and starting tomorrow, we’ll be posting new content daily. First up we’ll be sharing an excerpt from Bourbon & Eventide by Mike Spry with you as we get chappy with our Chappy Hour column and Wednesday we’ll have our first contributed piece, from author Chad Pelley, on why it’s so good to publish traditionally, independently, and locally. In the meantime, we’ve put together a short video to show you around the site.Thank you so much for visiting the site today, our first official day! We hope you enjoy looking around and that you come back often. If you’re in Vancouver, Toronto, or St. John’s we’d love for you to come out and celebrate the launch of All Lit Up in person on September 24th. If you can’t make it in person to one of our launch parties, follow us on Twitter as Amanda Leduc, author of The Miracles of Ordinary Men, will be doing a Twitter Takeover that evening with lots of opportunities to win some All Lit Up swag!
