~ Our sixth birthday celebration includes a six memorable moments from the blog this year and 6 + 6 books that made an impact on us. PLUS: a sweet deal and contest!

~ Brand new to our bookshelves is The Hammer of the Witches (Caitlin Press), Kelly Rose Pflug-Back's dark and stormy poetry collection that contemplates belief, power and fear with a streak of magic.

~ The Indie Reading Room is back with a lineup of 10 authors throughout the fall. Our double feature this week: Michelle Sylliboy reads from poetry collection Kiskajeyi: I AM READY (Rebel Mountain Press) & Raye Anderson reads from her crime novel And We Shall Have Snow (Signature Editions).

~ We made no-bake Chocolate Almond-Butter Squares from Jessica Mitton's new health-conscious dessert cookbook Some Good: Sweet Treats (Breakwater Books), which are so good we're already making our next batch.
