Books published by Canadian independent literary publishers are a labour of love. They begin with scouting talent—finding amazing Canadian writers. Soon, they’ll be introduced to readers everywhere. But before that happens, their stories go through editorial development, design, production, and marketing before hitting the bookstore and library. It takes years and enormous passion to produce a good book.
And now, more than ever, we want our purchases to support local businesses, not internet giants or foreign conglomerates. LPG member publishers—the makers of the books available on All Lit Up—are small presses operating across Canada, in our communities. They’re Canadian-owned and –controlled companies that support local economies and causes. They’re makers, creators, and artisans, connecting readers with essential books.
Get to know the people behind the books you enjoy. #ReadUp on our fiercely independent, creative literary presses—discover and celebrate their amazingly diverse, edgy, and inventive books.
