We had another week of awards celebrations at ALU HQ: Carleigh Baker's Bad Endings (Anvil Press) won the City of Vancouver Book Award and B. Denham Jolly's In the Black (ECW Press) was awarded the Toronto Book Award. In other news, we dug up some historical and literary dirt with #ALUTimeCapsule and drank a tasty tequila cocktail with our poetry.
~ We opened the ALU Time Capsule and dug up historical and literary dirt through the decades and celebrated the publishers who emerged from those eras. First few stops: the
1950s & '60s, and
the '70s. Stayed tuned every Tuesday and Thursday this month for more Time Capsule.
~ Margo LaPierre's
Washing Off the Raccoon Eyes (Guernica Editions) goes well with a tequila cocktail. Check out a sample from the book and try our recipe for a Shady Lady.
~ Debut novel
The Whole Beautiful World by Melissa Kuipers is Miriam Toews’ A Complicated Kindness meets Flannery O’Connor’s A Good Man Is Hard to Find.
