On the Blog

~ We went under the cover with Danielle Daniel's The Dependent (Latitude 46 Publishing), a memoir that Kerry Clare calls "a fantastic, complicated and beautiful love story."

~ Saoirse Ronan and Eddie Redmayne starred in our fictional film adaptation of Readopolis (BookThug).

~ We discussed our book club pick Death and the Intern (Invisible Publishing) and recorded it for posterity.

~ We shared summering in BC from the contributors to The Summer Book (Mother Tongue Publishing). (Spoiler: one lesson is that BC's answer to Waterworld is much, much better than the movie.)

Around the Web

~ Library and Archives Canada dug up pages from The Centennial Play which was written to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Canadian Confederation in 1967.

~ Test your knowledge of Canadian books with this Canada 150 quiz from BookNet.

~ Karl Lagerfeld has a book collection that is both functional and stylish + nine other famous people who hoard(ed) books

What Else We're Reading

Lauren recommends Suzette Mayr's Dr. Edith Vane and the Hares of Crawley Hall (Coach House Books) "if you want to take squickiness into the weekend."
